A charming recent Spode addition, this uniquely shaped tray makes a thoughtful gift for a Blue Italian collector–or chocolate lover. Averaging about 7-1/2 inches across its scalloped edge, and 1-1/2 inches deep, the tray holds several handfuls of nuts or candies, or beautifully displays an array of gourmet chocolate truffles for a tasting party. Echoing the outline of the tray\’s edge, the central illustration is the classic Blue Italian pastoral landscape, while an antique Chinese floral design wraps the border. The intricately detailed designs are rendered in rich cobalt blue on glossy white, using Spode\’s famous underglaze printing.

Blue Italian, captivating consumers and collectors alike ever since its introduction in 1816, is produced on a staggering array of tableware, cookware, and giftware. Made in England of Spode\’s highest-quality earthenware known as Imperialware, Blue Italian is safe for the dishwasher and microwave, a boon whether the ware is used everyday or saved for formal occasions. The tray comes handsomely packaged in Spode\’s signature blue box. –Ann Bieri
